The Indian government has introduced a new Aadhaar app that features Face ID authentication, marking a notable transformation in the Aadhaar verification process. Unveiled by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday, this app enables users to verify and share their Aadhaar information digitally, eliminating the need for physical cards or photocopies.

Showing the features of the app, Vaishnaw shared a video on X. “New Aadhaar App. Face ID authentication via mobile app. No physical card & No photocopies," he wrote.

If we talk about the app, it is developed in collaboration with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). The app offers QR code-based instant verification and real-time face ID for authentication. This innovation removes the hassle of carrying physical documents while traveling, checking into hotels, or even shopping.

“Now with just a tap, users can share only the necessary data, giving them complete control over their personal information," Vaishnaw said. The new Aadhaar App (in beta) is currently in its testing phase.

Importantly, the Aadhaar App is designed with security in mind and can only be shared with the user’s consent. It is entirely digital and secure, offering peace of mind to users.
